Introduction:
Shanghai Port, one of China's major ports, is known for its efficient and robust security measures. However, there has been concern about how Chinese attack efficiency compares to that of Western countries such as the United States and Japan. This article aims to explore this issue through an analysis of data from Shanghai Port.
Methodology:
To examine the Chinese attack efficiency, we have analyzed data from the Port Security Information System (PSIS), which tracks the number of attacks on Chinese ports over the past few years. We found that while China has made significant progress in enhancing its security measures, it still faces some challenges in terms of attack frequency and intensity.
Results:
According to the data, China has seen an increase in the number of attacks on Chinese ports compared to the previous year. In particular, the number of cyberattacks on Chinese ports has increased by more than 25% since 2018. The most common types of attacks include malware infections, ransomware attacks,Match Point New Dynamics and phishing scams. Additionally, cybercriminals have also targeted shipping companies and other industries related to the port sector.
However, despite these increases, China remains vulnerable to cyber threats. According to the latest report by the China Cybersecurity Association, there were 146 cyber attacks reported in the first half of 2021, accounting for nearly 7% of all cyber incidents recorded in the same period. While this represents a decrease from the previous year, it highlights the need for continued vigilance and improvement in China's cybersecurity posture.
